Moomoo Adds 24/7 Apple Pay and Google Pay Deposits

Moomoo Adds 24/7 Apple Pay and Google Pay Deposits Through Visa, Checkout.com

Moomoo is expanding how investors fund their trading accounts, introducing real-time deposits through Apple Pay and Google Pay in a partnership with Visa and Checkout.com. Announced on October 8, 2026, the move allows eligible users to add money to their accounts around the clock instead of relying solely on bank transfers that may be restricted by business hours.

The update reflects a broader shift in online investing: brokerage platforms are competing not just on trading fees, market access and research tools, but also on how quickly customers can move money into their accounts.

For Moomoo, which is owned by Nasdaq-listed Futu Holdings (NASDAQ: FUTU), easier account funding could make the platform more convenient and help it compete for active retail investors. However, the feature’s commercial impact will depend on adoption, geographic availability and whether faster deposits translate into stronger customer engagement.

How Moomoo’s New Deposit Feature Works

Eligible users can choose Apple Pay or Google Pay within the Moomoo app and complete a deposit using a supported debit card linked to their digital wallet. Visa’s payments network and Checkout.com’s payment infrastructure support the process.

The key change is the availability of funding at any time, including weekends and outside conventional banking hours.

Under the previous model, investors using bank transfers could face delays when banks were closed or transfers had not yet cleared. Digital-wallet deposits aim to reduce those barriers by streamlining the payment process and making funds available in real time, subject to the receiving financial institution, region and funding conditions.

Moomoo says eligible deposited funds can be used for stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), cryptocurrencies, options and event contracts. Access to these products varies by jurisdiction and account eligibility, so the new payment method does not automatically make every investment product available to every customer.

The distinction is important: 24/7 deposits do not mean every financial market trades 24 hours a day. The feature concerns account funding, while trading hours and execution depend on the specific instrument and market.

Why Moomoo Is Making the Move

The brokerage industry has become increasingly competitive as investors expect financial services to offer the convenience of mainstream digital applications.

A customer who spots a potential investment opportunity outside banking hours may not want to wait until the next business day to fund an account. Faster deposits can remove some friction from that process, especially for users who already rely on digital wallets for everyday payments.

Moomoo’s US chief executive, Neil McDonald, said the expanded funding options were intended to help users move money into their accounts more quickly when they are ready to invest.

The company is also developing a broader ecosystem of investment services. It already supports 24/5 trading in eligible US stocks and ETFs and has introduced other features, including Web3 wallet integration, AI-related investing tools through Moomoo API Skills and prediction-market access through a partnership with Kalshi.

Taken together, these developments suggest a strategy centred on making the platform useful throughout more of the investing journey—from researching opportunities and accessing markets to funding an account and placing eligible trades.

Why the Partnership Matters for Visa and Checkout.com

The arrangement also illustrates how payment companies are expanding their role in digital financial services.

Visa provides the payments network, while Checkout.com supplies payment infrastructure. For both, partnerships with consumer-facing platforms can help extend the use of their services within digital financial experiences.

For Visa, supporting account-funding transactions is another application of its payments network beyond conventional retail purchases. For Checkout.com, the deal highlights how payment infrastructure can support financial platforms that need fast, reliable transactions.

However, the announcement does not disclose the expected transaction volume, revenue contribution or financial terms of the partnership. It would therefore be premature to conclude that the launch will materially affect either company’s earnings.

The more meaningful indicators over time will be transaction growth, adoption by eligible users and whether the service can scale across additional markets.

What It Could Mean for Futu Holdings Investors

Moomoo is part of Futu Holdings, a technology-driven online brokerage and wealth-management business that also operates the Futubull platform. Futu’s annual report recorded approximately 29.2 million platform users at the end of 2025, while its company profile reported 31.3 million users at the end of June 2026. These figures refer to different reporting dates.

A smoother deposit experience could support Futu’s broader efforts to attract customers and increase activity on its platforms. More convenient funding may also help reduce friction for existing users, potentially supporting retention and trading engagement.

But there are several steps between introducing a feature and generating meaningful financial returns. Users must adopt the payment option, transactions must be economically viable, and any increase in activity must contribute to revenue without creating disproportionate costs or operational risks.

Investors tracking FUTU should therefore look beyond the announcement itself. Relevant measures include funded-account growth, customer assets, trading activity, revenue trends and the company’s spending on technology and customer acquisition.

The new feature is best viewed as a product-development milestone rather than evidence, on its own, of a material earnings improvement.

Risks and Limitations Investors Should Understand

Convenience does not eliminate the risks associated with digital payments or investing.

First, availability is conditional. Eligible debit cards, supported digital wallets, regional rules and financial-institution processing can affect whether a deposit is accepted and when the money becomes usable. Moomoo’s announcement explicitly states that fund availability depends on the receiving institution and region.

Second, faster funding can make it easier to react to market movements, but it can also encourage impulsive trading. Investors should not confuse the ability to transfer money quickly with a reason to invest immediately.

Third, extended-hours trading carries separate risks, including lower liquidity, wider bid-ask spreads and increased price volatility. Those risks do not disappear simply because an account can be funded around the clock.

Finally, the announcement does not establish that the service is available in India. Indian readers should check the platform’s supported markets and local regulatory requirements before assuming they can use the feature.

What to Watch Next

The next signals will be practical rather than promotional: how broadly the payment feature rolls out, whether eligible customers adopt it, and whether Futu reports improvements in funded accounts or trading engagement.

It will also be worth watching whether other brokers expand instant-funding options through digital wallets and card networks. If customers increasingly expect round-the-clock account funding, payment convenience could become a more important point of differentiation in online brokerage.

For now, Moomoo’s launch strengthens its effort to offer a more connected investing experience. Its longer-term significance will depend on customer uptake and measurable business results, not simply the availability of another deposit method.
