Stocks to Watch on October 8: Tata Power, TCS, Tata Steel, Senco Gold and More
Indian stock markets are set for another eventful session on Thursday, October 8, with Tata Power, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tata Steel, Senco Gold, PC Jeweller, Eveready Industries and Jubilant FoodWorks among the stocks likely to remain in focus.
The triggers are a mix of quarterly business updates, earnings, new product launches, corporate developments and expansion plans. The backdrop, however, is less supportive. The Nifty 50 fell 0.76% to 22,603.05 on October 7 after the Reserve Bank of India raised the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50% and shifted its stance to calibrated tightening.
That means company-specific news could produce sharp moves, particularly in stocks where investors are already positioning ahead of the September-quarter results season.
TCS: Q2 FY27 Results Take Centre Stage
Tata Consultancy Services is the biggest earnings trigger in Thursday's session as the IT major is scheduled to report its September-quarter results.
TCS's Q2 numbers are particularly important because they will provide an early indication of how large Indian IT services companies are navigating cautious technology spending, artificial intelligence-led changes and demand uncertainty in key overseas markets.
Investors will be looking beyond revenue and profit. Key indicators include constant-currency growth, operating margin, deal wins, order-book momentum, BFSI demand, North American performance and management commentary on AI-led opportunities.
TCS's investor calendar confirms that the company scheduled its Q2 FY27 results for October 8. Its latest reported Q1 FY27 revenue stood at ₹72,275 crore, while net income was ₹13,849 crore.
The stock was also gaining ahead of the results, reflecting expectations around the earnings announcement.
For the wider IT sector, TCS's commentary could be almost as important as the headline numbers. A stronger demand outlook could lift sentiment across large-cap IT stocks, while cautious commentary could have the opposite effect.
Tata Power: Floating Solar Technology Pilot
Tata Power is in focus after entering into a partnership with Norway-based renewable-energy technology company Ocean Sun.
The companies will undertake a roughly 300 kWp floating solar pilot project at Tata Power's Mulshi reservoir in Maharashtra. The project will test Ocean Sun's membrane-based floating solar technology under Indian conditions.
Floating solar is attracting attention because it can allow power developers to use water bodies for solar generation while reducing the need for land.
However, investors should distinguish between a pilot project and a material earnings opportunity. The immediate financial impact is likely to be limited. The longer-term importance is whether the technology proves commercially viable and can eventually be deployed at a larger scale.
Tata Power's broader renewable-energy expansion remains the more important structural theme for investors.
Tata Steel: Stronger India Production and Deliveries
Tata Steel released its provisional Q2 FY27 production and delivery figures after market hours on October 7.
India crude steel production increased to 6.21 million tonnes, up 8% sequentially and 10% year-on-year. Production for the first half of FY27 reached 11.97 million tonnes, a 10% year-on-year increase.
Domestic deliveries also improved. Tata Steel India delivered 5.97 million tonnes during Q2, up 15% sequentially and 7% year-on-year. First-half deliveries rose 8% year-on-year to 11.14 million tonnes.
The company said higher output at Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar supported production growth. Its automotive and special-products business recorded its best-ever second-quarter volumes of about 1.1 million tonnes, while branded products and retail also posted record quarterly volumes.
For investors, the next question is whether stronger volumes translate into improved profitability. Steel prices, raw-material costs, European operations and margins will remain important when Tata Steel reports full financial results.
Senco Gold: Q2 Revenue Jumps 31%
Senco Gold has emerged as one of the stronger jewellery-stock stories ahead of the trading session after reporting a robust Q2 FY27 business update.
The company said total revenue grew 31% year-on-year during the quarter, while retail revenue increased 29%. Same-store sales growth, or SSSG, stood at 19%. SSSG measures sales growth from stores operating for a comparable period and is useful for understanding whether growth is coming from existing outlets rather than only new store additions.
For the first half of FY27, total revenue rose 48% and retail revenue increased 40%. Senco also crossed ₹5,000 crore in H1 revenue and ₹10,000 crore in trailing-12-month sales.
The company added six showrooms in Q2, taking its total network to 215. It expects to add another 10–12 stores in the second half.
The performance is notable because gold prices remain elevated. High gold prices can increase the ticket size of jewellery purchases and put pressure on affordability, but organised retailers can also benefit from customers shifting toward branded, lightweight and exchange-friendly jewellery.
Senco's Q3 outlook, particularly during the festive and wedding season, will therefore be closely watched.
PC Jeweller: Debt-Free Status and 28% Revenue Growth
PC Jeweller is another stock attracting attention after a significant balance-sheet development.
The company reported approximately 28% year-on-year growth in consolidated revenue for Q2 FY27. It also received around ₹142 crore from outstanding export debtors during the quarter.
More importantly, PC Jeweller said it had repaid outstanding bank debt across its consortium, making the company debt-free.
That is significant because the company had previously gone through a major financial restructuring, including a one-time settlement with lenders. Removing bank debt should reduce interest costs and strengthen the balance sheet if the improvement is sustained.
PC Jeweller also completed a preferential fundraising of up to ₹500 crore in September.
Investors should now focus on whether the debt reduction translates into better profitability and cash generation rather than judging the turnaround only on revenue growth.
Eveready Industries: New Entry Into Mosquito Protection
Eveready Industries has announced its entry into the mosquito-protection category through portable liquid vaporisers.
The company is targeting up to ₹100 crore in revenue from the new product category within three years. Eveready said the product was developed in-house over the past year and that it has not required major investment, with the company's homecare knowledge and distribution network providing the foundation for the launch.
For Eveready, the move represents an attempt to use its established distribution network beyond its traditional battery business.
The ₹100-crore target is a management ambition, not guaranteed revenue. Investors will need to watch product acceptance, distribution expansion, competition and margins before assessing whether the new category can become financially meaningful.
Jubilant FoodWorks: Domino's Growth and Store Expansion
Jubilant FoodWorks, the operator of Domino's and other restaurant brands, reported an 11.9% year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue to ₹2,608.7 crore for Q2 FY27.
Standalone revenue increased 11.6% to ₹1,885.8 crore. Domino's India recorded like-for-like sales growth of 4.1%, while the company added 108 stores during the quarter.
Domino's India added 88 outlets, taking its network to 2,601 stores. Across the group's network, the total store count reached 3,820 at the end of September.
The 4.1% like-for-like growth is important because it shows how existing stores are performing without relying solely on new outlets.
At the same time, investors should note that Domino's Eurasia reported negative like-for-like growth of 2.1%. The geographical divergence means management's commentary on India demand, store economics and international operations will remain relevant.
What Investors Should Watch on October 8
These seven stocks represent very different investment stories.
TCS has the most direct earnings catalyst, with investors looking for signs of an IT-demand recovery. Tata Steel offers a volume-growth story but remains exposed to steel prices and margins. Senco Gold and PC Jeweller are showing strong jewellery demand and balance-sheet developments, although elevated gold prices and execution remain important risks.
For Tata Power, the floating-solar announcement is strategically interesting but still at the pilot stage. Eveready's mosquito-protection launch could diversify its revenue base, while Jubilant FoodWorks needs to balance store expansion with same-store sales and profitability.
The broader market environment also matters. With the Nifty already under pressure after the RBI's policy move, positive corporate news may not necessarily translate into sustained gains if overall risk appetite remains weak.
Bottom Line
The October 8 stock watchlist is dominated by earnings, operating updates and business expansion rather than a single market-wide theme. TCS is the key earnings event, Tata Steel has reported stronger Indian volumes, Senco Gold has delivered robust revenue growth, and PC Jeweller's debt-free status marks an important balance-sheet milestone.
Meanwhile, Tata Power's floating-solar pilot, Eveready's new mosquito-protection product and Jubilant FoodWorks' revenue and store growth highlight longer-term business developments.
For investors, the important task is to separate headline-driven trading interest from changes that can materially affect future earnings and cash flows. The next few quarters will show which of these announcements translate into durable financial improvement.
