Petrol Diesel Price Today: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru Rates

Petrol and Diesel Prices Today, September 14: Check Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru Rates as Crude Oil Surges

Petrol and diesel prices today, September 14, 2026: Global crude oil prices have surged above $100 a barrel again as escalating Middle East tensions raise fresh concerns about oil supplies. Brent crude climbed above $108 a barrel on Monday after Saudi Arabia shut a key East-West oil pipeline following attacks.

Despite the sharp rise in international crude prices, petrol and diesel rates in major Indian cities remain broadly stable. State-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) continue to revise fuel prices daily, but domestic pump prices have not immediately reflected the latest global crude rally.

For consumers, this creates an important distinction: crude oil prices can rise sharply without an immediate increase in petrol and diesel prices at Indian fuel stations.

Petrol and Diesel Price Today in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru

According to the latest city-wise rates reported for September 14, petrol and diesel prices are:

CityPetrol Price/LitreDiesel Price/Litre
Delhi₹102.12₹95.20
Mumbai₹111.21₹97.83
Bengaluru₹111.68₹99.56
Kolkata₹113.51₹99.82
Chennai₹107.76₹99.55
Hyderabad₹116.15₹104.23
Patna₹113.37₹99.36

These prices can differ significantly between states because petrol and diesel are subject to state-level taxes and local levies.

The difference between cities is therefore not determined by crude oil alone. Taxes, freight, dealer commissions and other components also influence the final retail price.

Why Has Crude Oil Suddenly Risen?

The latest jump in crude prices is primarily a geopolitical story.

Saudi Arabia temporarily shut its East-West oil pipeline, a major route that transports crude from the country's eastern oil-producing region toward the Red Sea. The pipeline has been particularly important because it provides an alternative route when shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is disrupted.

Reuters reported that the pipeline transports roughly 4–5 million barrels of oil a day and its shutdown has raised concerns about further supply disruption.

Fresh attacks involving Saudi energy infrastructure and shipping routes around the region have added to the uncertainty. Brent crude subsequently moved above $107 a barrel, while WTI also crossed $100.

The concern for the market is not simply that one pipeline is offline. Investors are worried about the possibility of a wider disruption involving multiple routes and oil-producing facilities.

Will Higher Crude Oil Make Petrol and Diesel More Expensive in India?

Not necessarily immediately.

Indian fuel prices do not mechanically change every time Brent crude rises or falls. Oil marketing companies consider international petroleum-product prices, currency movements and other factors when determining retail prices.

The latest reported rates show that domestic petrol and diesel prices have remained largely aligned with the last major adjustment, even as international crude has become considerably more volatile.

This means Indian motorists may not see an immediate price shock from Monday's crude rally.

However, a prolonged period of expensive crude could become more difficult to absorb.

If global oil prices remain elevated for an extended period, the economics of fuel marketing could come under greater pressure. The eventual effect on consumers would depend on crude prices, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, government taxation and the pricing decisions of OMCs.

Delhi Petrol Price Today: ₹102.12 Per Litre

Petrol in Delhi is priced at ₹102.12 per litre, while diesel is ₹95.20 per litre on September 14.

Delhi's rates are among the lower petrol prices across the major metropolitan markets listed today.

The reason is largely linked to differences in state taxation. Comparing Delhi with Mumbai, for example, shows how the same broad national crude-oil environment can produce significantly different pump prices.

Mumbai Petrol Price Today: ₹111.21 Per Litre

In Mumbai, petrol is priced at ₹111.21 per litre, while diesel costs ₹97.83 per litre.

Mumbai's petrol price is therefore more than ₹9 per litre above Delhi's listed rate.

For households and businesses with high fuel consumption, such differences can have a noticeable impact on monthly expenses, especially when crude prices remain elevated.

Bengaluru Petrol Price Today: ₹111.68 Per Litre

Bengaluru's petrol price stands at ₹111.68 per litre, while diesel is priced at ₹99.56 per litre.

The city's petrol rate is slightly above Mumbai's level in the latest data.

For Bengaluru and other cities where petrol prices are already above ₹110 per litre, a sustained global oil rally could become more significant for consumers if domestic fuel prices are eventually adjusted.

What Does the Oil Rally Mean for Indian Consumers?

The biggest concern is not necessarily today's petrol price. It is the possibility that higher crude prices could eventually feed into the wider economy.

Crude oil is a major input for transportation, logistics and several industrial activities. More expensive diesel can increase freight and operating costs for companies that depend heavily on road transportation.

That can eventually affect the prices of goods and services.

Higher crude can also increase India's import bill because the country imports a large share of its crude oil requirements. A prolonged oil-price spike can therefore put pressure on the trade balance and, depending on currency movements and other factors, the rupee.

For investors, this makes crude oil an important macroeconomic variable even when petrol prices at the pump appear unchanged.

Which Indian Businesses Could Be Affected?

The impact of expensive crude is not uniform across the stock market.

Oil marketing companies can face margin pressure if retail fuel prices do not move in line with international costs. Refiners, however, can benefit or suffer depending on refining margins and the prices of petroleum products.

Airlines are particularly sensitive because aviation turbine fuel is a major operating expense. Sustained higher oil prices can increase costs unless airlines are able to pass them on through fares.

Transport and logistics companies can also face higher operating expenses if diesel prices eventually rise.

On the other hand, upstream oil and gas producers can benefit from higher crude prices because the value of their production can increase.

The actual effect therefore depends on each company's cost structure, pricing power, hedging strategy and exposure to crude.

What Should Investors Watch Next?

The most important factor is the duration of the Saudi pipeline disruption.

A short-lived outage could have a limited impact if alternative supplies and inventories are sufficient. But a prolonged shutdown could force additional production adjustments and keep crude prices elevated.

The Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb shipping routes also remain critical. Any further disruption could add another risk premium to oil prices. Reuters has highlighted the possibility that continued attacks and supply interruptions could push crude volatility higher.

Investors should also monitor the rupee-dollar exchange rate, India's crude import bill, domestic fuel pricing decisions and inflation expectations.

Petrol and Diesel Price Outlook

For September 14, Indian consumers have not yet seen a comparable jump in petrol and diesel prices despite Brent crude moving above $108 a barrel.

The bigger question is what happens if crude remains above $100 for several weeks rather than several trading sessions.

If the geopolitical situation stabilises and oil flows recover, the current spike could gradually ease. But if supply disruptions spread or the Saudi pipeline remains offline for an extended period, pressure on global crude prices could persist.

For now, the key takeaway is that petrol and diesel prices in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru remain relatively stable, but the risk of future pressure has increased because of the sharp rise in crude oil and heightened Middle East supply risks.
