Indian Railways Changes Timings of 13 Trains: Full List

Indian Railways Changes Timings of 4 Express Trains; 9 More to Get New Schedule Soon — Full List

Passengers travelling on several important long-distance routes should check their train timings carefully before heading to the station. Indian Railways has revised the schedule of four trains with the changes taking effect from September 2, 2026. Another nine services are scheduled for timetable revisions from November 1 to November 6.

The changes affect trains connecting cities including Howrah, Kathgodam, Bahraich, Varanasi, Mumbai, Purnia, Jaynagar, Lucknow, Amritsar and Anand Vihar. Importantly, these are mostly changes at specific stations rather than a complete overhaul of the trains' end-to-end schedules.

Which 4 Trains Have New Timings From September 2?

The first set of timetable changes has already come into effect. Four trains are affected:

Train No.Train NameStation AffectedOld TimingNew Timing
13019Howrah–Kathgodam Bagh ExpressLucknow00:20/00:3000:45/00:55
13019Howrah–Kathgodam Bagh ExpressHardoi02:12/02:1402:42/02:44

11057CSMT–Amritsar ExpressAmritsarArrival 16:15Arrival 16:50
14617Purnia Court–Amritsar Jansewa ExpressAmritsarArrival 16:55Arrival 17:05

Although the table contains five station-level entries, the changes apply to four train services because the Bagh Express has revised timings at both Lucknow and Hardoi.

Bagh Express Gets the Biggest Immediate Adjustment

The 13019 Howrah–Kathgodam Bagh Express now reaches Lucknow at 12:45 AM instead of 12:20 AM and departs at 12:55 AM instead of 12:30 AM. Its Hardoi schedule has also shifted by 30 minutes.

For passengers boarding or receiving travellers at these stations, this is the kind of change that can easily lead to missed trains if they continue following an older timetable.

Jansewa Express Timing Changes Matter for Bihar Passengers

The 14617 Purnia Court–Amritsar Jansewa Express is particularly relevant for passengers travelling from Bihar towards Punjab. Its arrival at Amritsar has been shifted from 4:55 PM to 5:05 PM.

Local reporting from Bihar also indicates that the timetable revisions do not change the scheduled stoppages at Bihar stations; the changes relate to arrival and departure timings at selected stations.

9 More Train Services Will Get New Timings in November

Northern Railway has also announced another phase of timetable revisions. These changes are scheduled to be implemented between November 1 and November 6, 2026.

Shaheed and Saryu Yamuna Express to See Multiple Changes

Among the November revisions, the changes to trains operating between Bihar and Amritsar are likely to be closely watched by passengers.

The 14649 Jaynagar–Amritsar Saryu Yamuna Express will have revised timings at multiple stations, including Shahganj, Ayodhya Dham, Akbarpur, Ayodhya Cantt, Barabanki, Rudauli and Lucknow. Its arrival at Amritsar is scheduled to shift to 6:05 PM.

The 14673 Jaynagar–Amritsar Shaheed Express will also see timing adjustments at key stations, including Barabanki, Lucknow and Amritsar, from November 2.

Why Is Indian Railways Changing Train Timings?

Railway timetable changes can be made for several operational reasons, including better coordination between trains, infrastructure capacity, revised running patterns and efforts to improve overall punctuality.

The current changes should not automatically be interpreted as a change in the complete journey time of every affected train. In several cases, only the timing at particular stations has been revised.

The broader 2026 railway timetable has also focused on improving operational efficiency. According to information released by the government earlier this year, Indian Railways said that 549 trains had been sped up under the 2026 timetable, alongside the introduction and extension of several services.

What Passengers Should Do Before Travelling

The most important takeaway is simple: do not rely entirely on an old screenshot, previous ticket history or a timetable saved months ago.

Passengers travelling on any of the affected routes should verify the latest schedule before leaving for the railway station. Northern Railway has advised passengers to use the RailMadad helpline at 139 or the official railway enquiry platform for updated information on timings and stoppages.

This is especially important for passengers with connecting trains, airport transfers, hotel bookings or family members scheduled to receive them at the destination.

What This Means for Railway Passengers

The immediate impact may appear small because many of the revisions range from a few minutes to around half an hour. However, for passengers catching an early-morning train or planning a connection, even a 10-minute change can be significant.

The September changes are already in effect, while the next phase will roll out in November. Passengers travelling on routes involving Lucknow, Amritsar, Varanasi and other affected stations should keep the revised dates in mind.

The key takeaway is that Indian Railways has changed the timings of four train services from September 2 and plans another round of revisions covering nine services between November 1 and November 6. Before travelling, checking the latest official train schedule remains the safest way to avoid confusion.
