Xiaomi Launches 5HP Floor-Standing AC in China With 30-Second Cooling
Xiaomi has launched a new Mijia Air Conditioner Giant Energy-Saving Floor-Standing 5HP in China, targeting large rooms and commercial-style spaces with high cooling and heating requirements. The new floor-standing AC promises rapid cooling in around 30 seconds and heating in 60 seconds, while also using AI-based energy-saving technology to control power consumption.
The product is priced at 7,999 yuan in China. Reports put that at roughly ₹1 lakh before accounting for taxes, import costs and currency fluctuations. There is currently no confirmed announcement that this specific 5HP model will launch in India.
Xiaomi Mijia 5HP AC: Key Specifications
The new Xiaomi floor-standing air conditioner is designed for significantly larger spaces than a typical household split AC.
According to reported specifications, the unit supports a maximum cooling capacity of 13,200W and maximum heating capacity of 17,250W. It is designed for spaces of approximately 50–80 square metres, depending on factors such as room design and environmental conditions.
The main specifications include:
5HP floor-standing design
Maximum cooling capacity: 13,200W
Maximum heating capacity: 17,250W
Rapid cooling: 30 seconds
Rapid heating: 60 seconds
Airflow volume: up to 1,850 m³/h
Airflow distance: up to 17 metres
Air supply angle: 115 degrees
APF: 3.75
Recommended space: around 50–80 m²
38.6cc large-displacement compressor
Mijia app and Xiaomi smart-home connectivity
The specifications make it clear that Xiaomi is positioning this product as a high-capacity climate-control system rather than a conventional bedroom AC.
How Can It Cool in 30 Seconds?
The headline 30-second cooling claim needs some context.
Xiaomi's rapid-cooling approach combines a large compressor, expanded heat-exchange hardware and a high-volume airflow system. The new 5HP model uses a 38.6cc compressor, along with dual-row condenser and evaporator arrangements. Its indoor unit has a 120mm fan wheel and can circulate up to 1,850 cubic metres of air per hour.
The result is designed to push a large amount of conditioned air through the room quickly.
However, 30-second cooling should not be interpreted as meaning that an entire 50–80 square metre room will reach the user's desired temperature in exactly 30 seconds.
The manufacturer's rapid-performance claims for its AC range are based on specified test conditions and primarily refer to the temperature of air coming from the indoor outlet. Xiaomi itself notes that actual performance can vary according to environmental conditions, installation quality, room size and user settings.
That distinction is important for consumers comparing headline specifications.
Heating in Just 1 Minute
The heating function is another major selling point.
The 5HP model supports 60-second rapid heating, allowing the system to quickly increase the temperature of the air being delivered into the room. Its maximum heating capacity is rated at 17,250W, higher than its maximum cooling capacity.
This makes the machine a year-round climate-control product rather than an appliance designed only for summer cooling.
The broader Mijia lineup also offers rapid heating and cooling. Xiaomi's global product pages specify that its 30-second cooling and 60-second heating claims are based on defined testing conditions, reinforcing why real-world results can differ from laboratory measurements.
AI Energy Saving Is Another Key Feature
Speed is not the only focus of the new Xiaomi AC.
The company is also highlighting energy efficiency. The 5HP model carries a Class 1 energy-efficiency rating in China and has an APF of 3.75. Xiaomi's associated energy-saving algorithms are reported to reduce electricity consumption by more than 20% under its specified usage conditions, with an estimated annual saving of about 972 kWh compared with older models.
The system uses Xiaomi's smart energy-management technology to adjust operation according to conditions and usage.
For a high-capacity AC, energy consumption is particularly important because a more powerful compressor can also mean a significant electricity bill if operated heavily.
Still, Xiaomi's estimated savings should be viewed as test-based figures rather than a guaranteed reduction in every household's electricity consumption. Room insulation, climate, usage hours, thermostat settings and installation can substantially change actual power consumption.
17-Metre Airflow and Wide-Angle Distribution
Another standout feature is the airflow system.
The indoor unit can reportedly circulate up to 1,850 m³ of air per hour, while the airflow can reach as far as 17 metres. The system supports a 115-degree wide-angle air distribution pattern.
This is particularly useful for large living rooms, open-plan spaces and areas where a conventional wall-mounted AC may struggle to distribute air evenly.
Xiaomi also includes multiple airflow-direction modes, including ceiling-oriented airflow, allowing users to adjust how the air moves around the room rather than simply blowing directly at occupants.
Xiaomi Smart Features Come Built In
Like other Mijia appliances, the new floor-standing AC is integrated into Xiaomi's smart-home ecosystem.
Users can control the appliance through the Mijia/Xiaomi Home app, while voice controls are available through Xiaomi's smart assistant ecosystem. This allows users to adjust operating modes and settings without necessarily using the physical remote.
For consumers already using Xiaomi smart-home products, this could make the AC easier to integrate into an existing connected-home setup.
Price and India Availability
The Xiaomi Mijia Air Conditioner Giant Energy-Saving Floor-Standing 5HP has been listed in China at 7,999 yuan. Some Chinese government subsidy programmes may bring the effective price lower for eligible buyers, but that subsidised price should not be treated as the international launch price.
As of the latest available information, the specific 5HP floor-standing model has been launched in China, and Xiaomi has not confirmed an India launch for this exact product.
That means Indian consumers should not assume that the Chinese price will translate directly into an Indian retail price. Import duties, logistics, taxes, warranty arrangements and local distribution could materially affect the final cost if Xiaomi eventually introduces it in India.
What This Means for Xiaomi's AC Business
The launch highlights Xiaomi's broader push beyond smartphones and into connected home appliances.
Air conditioners are a competitive category in India and other Asian markets, where consumers increasingly look for a combination of cooling performance, energy efficiency and smart controls.
A product capable of combining high output with AI-assisted energy management gives Xiaomi another way to differentiate its Mijia ecosystem.
For investors watching Xiaomi's broader business, however, a single appliance launch should not be treated as a major earnings catalyst on its own. The more important indicators would be the company's overall smart-home sales, international expansion, margins and market share across major appliance categories.
What Consumers Should Watch
The biggest question is whether Xiaomi eventually brings this high-capacity floor-standing AC to markets such as India.
If launched, consumers would need to compare more than the 30-second cooling claim. Important factors would include:
Actual electricity consumption
Installation requirements
Warranty and after-sales service
Noise levels
Cooling performance in India's extreme summer temperatures
Availability of spare parts
Suitable room size
Final Indian pricing
A powerful 5HP system is also unlikely to be the right choice for a typical bedroom or small apartment. Its capacity makes more sense for large rooms, open spaces or commercial environments.
The Bigger Picture
Xiaomi's new Mijia 5HP floor-standing AC shows how premium air conditioners are increasingly competing on speed, energy efficiency and connected features rather than cooling capacity alone.
The headline figures — 30-second rapid cooling, 60-second rapid heating, 17-metre airflow and AI-assisted energy saving — make the product notable, but real-world performance will depend heavily on room conditions and installation.
For now, the product remains a China launch, with no confirmed India launch for this particular model. If Xiaomi expands the product to India, its final price, efficiency in Indian conditions and after-sales network will be more important to buyers than headline specifications alone.
