Noida’s First Skywalk Opens Today: ₹33 Crore Project Connects Sector 51 and 52 Metro Stations
Noida is set to get its first air-conditioned skywalk connecting Sector 51 and Sector 52 metro stations, bringing a much easier interchange between the Noida

For thousands of daily commuters who currently have to navigate an open and congested route between the two stations, the facility could significantly improve the experience of changing metro lines.
What Is Noida’s New Skywalk?
The new skywalk is an enclosed, air-conditioned pedestrian connection between Sector 51 Metro Station on the Aqua Line and Sector 52 Metro Station on the Blue Line.
The project is designed to make the interchange between the two metro corridors easier without requiring passengers to leave the protected metro environment and walk along the busy road outside.
Reports put the completed structure at roughly 400–460 metres, with differences in reported length linked to how the connected sections are measured. The facility is approximately six metres wide and has been designed to handle regular commuter movement between the two stations.
Travelators Will Make the Transfer Easier

₹33 Crore Project Took More Than Three Years
The project has had a much longer journey than originally planned.

One major problem emerged when an underground metro cable was discovered during excavation. This resulted in changes to the structural design, including a shift from the originally planned single-pillar arrangement to a two-column support system. Further changes were required because of structural issues around the station entrances.
The project also faced construction restrictions during winter because of National Green Tribunal-related measures, adding to the delays.
Project Cost Rose From the Original Estimate
The delays were accompanied by an increase in the project's cost.
The initial project estimate was around ₹25 crore, but design changes and additional construction eventually pushed the cost to approximately ₹33 crore, with some reports putting the final figure at around ₹33.5 crore.
The increase reflects the additional structural work and modifications required to connect the skywalk properly with the existing metro infrastructure.

The skywalk is not simply a covered pedestrian bridge.
Reports indicate that the facility includes CCTV cameras, fire-safety equipment and emergency arrangements aimed at improving passenger safety. The structure has also been fitted with lighting and railings.
